Week 2 in review: Volquez and Ramirez are starting a family

Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez has been slapped with a 50 game suspension for violating MLBs drug policy…most of which will be swallowed up by his time on the DL, which goes to show just how much trouble he really isnt in.

What did him in?
(You’re gonna love this)

Apparently he wants to start a family with his wife so a doctor from the Dominican Republic put him on drugs that are a big no-no here in the States.

I think hes lying…not about the drugs, but about the intent.

Keen minded baseball fans will recall the Manny Ramirez suspension from last year over female fertility drugs. This whole Volquez thing is waaaaaaaaaaaay too big a coincidence.

I think Volquez really does want to start a family…but not with his wife. He wants a baby with Manny Ramirez…..That will be one ugly baby, but one hell of a ball player.

MEANWHILE!

Someone apparently forgot to send the Yankees the memo that theyre suppose to suck in the months of April and May before juggernaut mode kicks in. They opened up the stadium this year with a 5-1 homestand including an opening day win and a sweep of Texas. The whole “Welcome back Matsui” thing was awesome, especially when he went yard, and it really all reminded me of Tino Martinez when he eventually returned to the Bronx with the Cardinals (and also went deep on his return game)

The Red Sox, meanwhile, have been a nice suprise. Theyve been having a rough April which included a sweep at home by the Death Rays…a 4 game sweep…
Though this might all be part of their “If you cant beat ’em, copy what they do” plan…It looks something like this:

Boston Red Sox plan for a 2010 World Championship (aka what the 2009 Yankees did)
Offseason: Sign big name pitcher. CHECK.
April: Suck like youve never sucked before. CHECK
May: Remember how to win.
June-August: Continue doing well.
September: Overtake 1st place in division.
October: ???
November: Profit!

So yeah…only time will tell if that’ll work out for em…especially since their whole “Pitching and defense 1st” thing has backfired massively…especially the defense part.

Biggest Yankee Game
4/13/10  Yankees-7, Angels-5
Opening day, baby! Yankees get their rings, Matsui gets welcomes back, flag gets raised, and did I mention the Yankees won?
Yanks got off to a nice big lead…so big that even after former-Yankee Bobby Abreu hit a grand slam, the Yankees were still winning. Hell, all that did was give them an excuse to bring in Rivera (which made it the most counter productive grand slam in history)

Favorite Picture

20innings.jpgSeriously? It was the only non Yankee/All Star game on FOX that I was actually compelled to keep watching…though Tim McCarver made it tempting to mute.
This was actually a game the Cardinals shouldve won. Most of those 9 Mets hits came when position players started pitching….and no, neither Met error was caused by Castillo dropping a pop fly…

Fantasy
Whatever happened in week 1, the opposite happened in week 2. Seriously.
The Roid Sox won big in week 1…they lost big in week 2.
The F*cking Lozers lost 3-9 in week 1….they won 9-3 in week 2.
The Pretenders had a slightly above average run in week 1…slightly below average in week 2.
The other 2 teams are also now sporting .500 records as a result of opposite week.
Trying to find the best players to plug in to each team. Im happy to see Brett Gardner getting off to a decent start this year, so Im plugging him into any lineup that needs a burst of speed cuz Gardner picked up where he left off last year in stealing whenever and wherever he wants.

This Week
The Yankees begin a road trip that now apparently includes a detour to the White House….why hes finally getting around to meeting them is beyond me, though Im willing to bet that if the White Sox won a championship in any of the next 3 years, Obama would be meeting them the next day…just sayin…
Yankees are in Oakland this week as well as Los Angeles. It’ll be the first of 2 trips to each city, though it’ll be the only time the Yankees play the Angels on the road.

Bling Bling

Its official. Time to forget about the 27th Championship and start focusing on #28. The party officially ended yesterday when the Yankees recieved their world championship rings.

Lets get the petty formalities of the game out of the way before I start appraising rings…yes, I said rings

Heres the sexiness that is the 2009 World Championship ring:

ring.jpgIf you need a minute alone in the bathroom, Ill understand.
Heres another angle:

ring 2.jpgAlright…along with the current Yankees to recieve their bling were 2 former members of that championship team. You may remember one of them…

Matsui.jpgThe Padres had an off day, so Jerry Hairston Jr also took the opprotunity to fly over to NYC and recieve his ring in person. But his brief return to the Stadium was easily overshadowed by the Bronx return of Matsui. You can see Hairston 2 pictures down (hes the one not wearing a uniform)

Matsui 3.jpgThe second he recieved his ring, the team broke ranks and embraced the MVP

Matsui 2.jpg…Then they went on to beat up the Angels. Former Yankee Bobby Abreu made it interesting with a 9th inning Gram Slam, but the Yankees had too big of a lead to worry.
Pettitte got the win, Mo got the save, nothing we werent expecting…

Anyway, I took the time to check out every world series ring, ever. You should check it out too. Every ring, watch, pin, or whatever used to brag about a world championship is on that site, as well as league championship rings and program covers and other fun stuff.

Fun fact: apparently, there were no rings awarded before 1922, so technically the Red Sox organization only have 2 rings.

My favorite ring is still the 96 ring, but the 09 one is growing on me.

1996 ring.jpgThe 1993 Blue Jays ring was funny to look at, like the blue jay’s eye poped open in shock when Carter hit his homer.

1993 ring.jpgThe 1976 Reds ring is interesting, what with the actual trophey on the front, the only of its kind.

1976 ring.jpg

My favorite non-Yankee ring is the 74 As ring.

1974 ring.jpgand the 1st Yankee ring of its kind was the 1927 ring (1923 didnt get a ring, it got a watch)

1927 ring.jpgSo yeah….lot of pics. I feel lazy….
Anyway, check out World Series Rings and see all the other rings. Lemme know your favorites….

Fantasy Draft #4….and the Twins keep their franchise player, but their season is shot anyway

Fantasy baseball is like a drug. You cant make just one team.

Ive got multiple teams in the works this year. 1 in a money league, 1 for kicks, 1 to test a theory I have, and 1 that I created with some friends to test another theory.

This is the last one I swear. This one I’ll be drafting potential sleepers and taking chances. Anything that pans out will factor into plans and staratagies for my other teams. Ive done this before, and achieved huge success because I took chances on certain individuals who had break out seasons. Such players include: Joe Mauer, Curtis Granderson, Pablo Sandoval and Evan Longoria. Impressive short list, no? I dont usually win with this team, but those players I mentioned before helped my other fantasy teams take it to the playoffs.

Speaking of Mauer. Twins signed him long term and probably worth more than the rest of the teams makes combined. In fact, I think they now need to rename “Target Field” into “Joe Mauer Stadium” because they didnt have enough money leftover to give him…plus he gets a no trade claus, which means he can (and will) milk them bone dry and theres nothing they can do about it….anyway, Nathan will be getting his surgery, meaning unless the Twins have a Ryan Franklin type story waiting for his chance, their season is shot….oh well, Mauer. Youve got 7 additional years to try, and what are the odds youll face the Yankees EVERY time in the ALDS, right?

I know this is old news, but who still remembers the trade rumor between the Cardinals and Phillies which wouldve had Pujols and Howard swap places? That would be sick. I mean, I know its not happening, but still.
As it stands, its possibly the 2nd greatest trade rumor in history, right behind the Yankees/Red Sox Joe DiMaggio for Ted Williams deal.

Alright already, draft field is loaded…and Ive got another motha fukkin middle of the order pick. 7th out of 12. Why God, why? Heres a recap of my draft positions this year:
6 out of 12
6 out of 10
5 out of 12
11 out of 12
7 out of 12

…So my ADP in all this is about a 7. Go figure. What sucks is Ive been stuck with similar 1st round choices. I’ve managed to mix it up every time, drafting ARod, Longoria, Ryan Braun and Miguel Cabrera. Statistically speaking, my average #1 should be Lonoria or Tim Lincecum, depending on what type of league this is. BTW, this league Im doing tonight is an individual pitchers league, like my money league from last week.

Round 1…pick….Tex. When 6 people are dumb enough to let him drop that low, you dont let #8 have Mark Teixeira…

Round 2…Roy freakin Halladay….I should clarify on my “braskout stars” picks….thats in the later rounds.
Round 3….Jeter. Duh…
Round 5…Johan Santana…Bounce back from injury? ‘s what this team was made to find out.
Round 7/8…Took a couple more chances. Bailey and Ramirez. Sophomore slump for Bailey? Will Ramirez avoid getting pregnant this year? Only way to find out is to wait and see…
Round 9…Coghlan too? When dealing with last years impressive rookies, might as well go all in or go home.
Round 12…Chipper Jones. Last year for Bobby Cox? This might also be the last hurah for Jones too.
Round 17…Strasburg…thats right. I pulled the same stunt with Longoria once upon a time and it payed off.
Round 22…Due to recent not-sucking, Hughes looks good for the #5 slot in NY, so Im drafting him.

Final draft finally over…projection:

Pretenders:
C: G. Soto
1B: M. Teixeira
2B: B. Zobrist
3B: C. Jones
SS: D. Jeter
OF: B. Abreu
OF: M. Ramirez
OF: M. Cuddyer
U: J. Cantu
U: J. Rivera
SP: R. Halladay
SP: J. Santana
RP: A. Bailey
RP: F. Cordero
P: C. Qualls
P: P. Hughes
P: S. Kazmir
P: R. Harden

Yeah…a lot of bounce back potential on this team…

Remaining free agents

Last year had Bobby Abreu and Manny Ramirez homeless until the last possible moments…what about this year? Could the Yankees use any of them to fill a couple holes, mainly Left field?

…Lets rifle through the list of free agents to see what weve got left…

Justin Duchscherer
Oakland denied him abritration and let him go as a free agent, neither of which could possibly help his depression. Too injury prone for the Yankees to want and Oakland really wants to youth the team up.

Jason Bay
The man wanted out of Boston and it looks like New York wants him…not the Yankees though, too much money. The Mets are the only non-Boston team interested in him to fill their void in left.

Vladimir Guerrero
We wouldve killed for this mo fo the last time he was a free agent, not this time though. With Matsui in LA and the Angels not needing 2 DHs, Vlad-the-impailer is a man without a country. Yankees dont want him now seeing how if we wanted a full time DH we wouldve kept Godzilla.

Johnny Damon
If I were in charge of the Yankees, Id make it policy to have at most 1 Scott Boras client on roster at a time. With Cabrera gone the Yankees have a hole in left field that Damon used to fill. We want him, at OUR price. This has turned into the same stand off BS that we did in 07 with ARod, another Boras client. We’ll get him, as soon as Damon smacks Boras and tells him to “Shut up and go stand in the corner while I talk with the Yankees”

Erik Bedard
The reason the Mariners let him go is because of back-to-back injury filled seasons. Also a reason no team with thoughts of contention would wanna sign him either.

Jermaine Dye
Giants want him. Rangers want him bad. Whispers say the Yankees could plug him in left field. Dye is good. For some reason he always manages to quietly put together a good season. Had he been on the Giants or Rangers LAST season, they mightve made the playoffs.

Adrian Beltre
Heres the dilemma in Boston. They want Lowell out real bad, Ortiz cant play the field to save his life, if Victor Matrinez could play a decent 1st base he wouldnt need to also be a catcher (and vice versa) and Adrian Gonzalez is a pipe dream at best…so they need SOMEBODY besides Youkilis to play the corner infield. Beltre may be their best chance, which isnt a good think offensively.

Russell Branyan
Why not him for Boston? If not Beltre than why not sign Branyan? Decent bench 1st baseman. Seattle might actually want to keep this one.

Hank Blalock
…Never a defensive choice and his average has been lacking. Plus theres the thing where hes always a lock to get hurt every year…

Fernando Rodney
Angels are apparently all over this though. Should the Yankees grab him, he would complete an unstoppabel bullpen. Hey, if the Red Sox are dreaming for Adrian Gonzalez, I can dream for Rodney…

Marlon Byrd
Heres a guy who could but up decent numbers and/or split time with Gardner in left. None of his numbers scream out at you but he could quietly produce…which for the Yankees is better than nothing…

Joe Crede
Wants to play for the Twins again in 2010…but his agent is Scott Boras…

Melvin Mora
Aging…crappy stats…already a surplus of free agent 3rd basemen…PASS…even the Orioles dont wanna bother…

Miguel Olivo
Pretty good power numbers for a catcher, but low stats everywhere else, plus the fact that the Royals dont want you….as long as any “Molina” remains on the market, Ovilo wont have a home…

Matt Holliday
Cardinals want him, and for a long time. Boston wants him because Bay ran away. Yankees could sign him just to be as*holes. probably wont since hes too much money. If I were him, unless the Yankees come calling, stay in St Louis.

Mark DeRosa
Officially known in St Louis as “Plan B” in case Holliday gets away. Yankees might grab him to put in left.

Jose Valverde
For some reason no one wants him. I’m not sure why. I’d take him over Rodney, but thats just me…

Brett Myers
Houston wants him in their bullpen to help fill holes left by a couple people leaving, including the aformentioned Valverde. Myers could do worse than the Astros.

Miguel Tejada
Houston wants him back, which sounds smart on thier part.

Bengie Molina
Mets want him. Then again the Mets want everyone.

Pedro Martinez
The man didnt pitch last year until the 2nd half and he still had nothing left when the world series came. Now he wants to pitch for an entire season? Since the 03 ALCS he just hasnt been as dominating as advertised and last November proved he STILL cant beat the Yankees. Philles should pass, and any team that wants to win should pass too…then again, sign him, let him pitch decent for you until July, then trade him before he craps out. GMs can thank me later.

Joel Pineiro
Good, not great. Too many decent pitchers on the market in front of him. Not many, but he wont go until the better ones go.

Carlos Delgado
HA! Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

John Smoltz
If he proved anything last year, its that the Red Sox cant judge pitching worth a damn. He can start, relieve or possible close. A do anything pitcher like him will definatly find a home…probably in the NL.

Adam LaRoche
Braves might want him for 1 more year. Might be his best option.

Rick Ankiel
He’d be a decent pickup…if he werent so injured all the time. If anyone picks him up, itll prolly be to just fill out the roster or a 5th outfielder.

Orlando Hudson
Last year he was one of those last minute signings and the Dodgers looked like geniuses as a result. This year might feature another last minute signing for Hudson, and he’ll once again make whatever GM look smart…might end up being the Dodgers again…

…My God this took longer than I thought…

2009 ALCS vs Angels…Game 3

Andy Pettitte could make history today and the Yankees can go up 3-0 with a win.

Pettite is tied for most postseason wins. He could add the finishing touch to his hall of fame credentials.

Jered Weaver opposes us fro the Angels, hes been good this year, but pretty bad when facing the Yankees, giving up 4, 4 and 5 runs against us in each of his respective starts. Pettitte isnt so hot in his own right against LA, goin 0-2 in 3 starts. Todays battle might just end up the offensive onslaught thats been absent in this series.

Only time will tell…

Top 1 in LA
…Aaaaaaaand Jeter gets us underway in the best possible fashion. Home run! Yankees lead 1-0!

Middle of 2 in LA
Is Tim McCarver serious? He talked about how it used to be when you won a pennent, you go play in the world series right after and how that isnt the case nowadays…
…so, according to Tim McCarver, when the Yankees win the AL, theyll have to play another round before the world series…
FIRE that old coot already!…and while youre at it, fire Joe Buck too…It be good for baseball.

Top 4 in LA
An A-BOMB! From A-ROD! Yankees lead 2-0!!!
Theres a lot of talk about how Ryan Howard has an RBI in all 7 games hes been in this postseason…A Rod has an RBI in all 6 so far. If the Twins beat us at least once, A Rod would probably have 7 as well.
Yankees have 10 home runs this postseason, A Rod has 4 of those.

End of 4 in LA
So, in 2007, when I was forced to watch the ALDS on TBS or whatever, it involved us being forced to watch those terrible commercials for those not funny comedy shows.
…having to watch the painfully not funny commercials for this Wanda Sykes show reminded me of that…

Top 5 in LA
In case the Angels forgot the Yankees were nicknamed “The Bronx Bombers”, Johnny Damon punctuated that fact with a long ball of his own. Yankees lead 3-0 (soon to be the series score as well)
A Rod had an exciting swing, ended up flying out to left, but it had a home run look…

End of 6 in LA
Games tied, but with a better bullpen, we still have an edge unless the Angels actually score again…

Bottom 7 in LA
(ahem)…..JOBAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
…and he gives up a run…pssh…

End of 7 in LA
This is playing out a little too familiar. Yankees take a sizable lead early, Angels get every run back. With luck, this can play out in a familiar way with a win…

Top 8 in LA
Godzilla leads off with a walk, Gardner in to run for him. Start of something big?
…no
…and if for once in his life Gardner had not been impatient, Yankees would be leading…ah well. Hip-hip-JORGE! Game tied!

Bottom 8 in LA
So, Abreu gets greedy, cuz apparently a leadoff double just wasnt enough for him. Mistakes like that could pave the way for us…

Top 9 in LA
…and Brian Fuentes proves hes too much of a chicken sh!t to pitch to A Rod with the bases empty, 2 outs…insert chicken imitation here…

End of 9 in LA
Bonus baseball time!
Man, if the Yankees win this one, they’ll completely deflate the Angels heading into CCs start. Lets do it!

Bottom 10 in LA
Enter Sandman…with the pressure…

Bottom 11 in LA
…Well f*ck…still leading 2-1. Only need 1 win here in LA to keep the advantage ours…

Playoff Dry Run

Must win. Lets think that because in the playoffs, when you lose the opener against a team like the Angels, you gotta think that in the 2nd game. The Yankees must win tonight! Gaudin’s got a rotation audition on the line and the Yankees have a mile wide opening to put some serious breathing room between them and Boston heading into the weekend…and that whole magic number being 1 and all is good motivation as well.

God bless the Royals and Zack Greinke for giving it to the Red Sox hard and dry tonight thus far. Just goes to show how ineffective Boston can be against great pitching, this was their 1st look at him this year. Hold a 5-0 lead and the number for the east crown goes down again. The lower that number is, the better chance we might actually get to clinch it against Boston and rub it in their faces. If THAT aint motivation, I dont know what is.

End of 1 in LA
…Ok, we loaded the bases in the 1st and didnt score. At least it showed we’re not screwing around. How many innings did we just go down harmlessly last night? As for Gaudin? 1-2-3. Keep this up and we’ll have no problem winning.
Boston is 3 outs away from losing again. Its 5-1 now but theyve only managed 2 hits all night. And that 1 run was made possible and all by balks and manufacturing.
Texas and Oakland scoreless thus far
…and for the hell of it, the Reds are beatin down on the Pirates 10-4 in the 9th.

End of 2 in LA
We leave a runner on 3rd for the 2nd strait inning. Thus far this has been a game we should win. We’re making Santana work-hes around 40 pitches already. We get to the bullpen, we’re set, like we’ve done all year.
2 outs left for Boston, still 5-1
Oakland leads Texas 2-0…

Game over in Pittsburgh
…Reds beat Pirates 10-4 in a game that means nothing…so lets look at a game that DOES mean something…
Seattle beat Tampa Bay 4-3, officially ending the Rays season (and then there were 17) Until next year Death Rays! Seattle meanwhile is still barely alive in both the west and wild card…
…Gaudin looks good through 2.
Boston loses! Magic number for the east is now 7!

Middle of 3 in LA
ARod and Jorge! goin deep and puttin us up BIG and early! This is it for Gaudin. He hold the Angels at bay, then he passes in my book. With this and Texas being down 2-0 still, we’re gettin in tonight!
…Other games that mean something…St. Louis beat down on the eliminated Astros 11-2 to drop their magic number to 2 in the NLcentral.
Twins and Tigers both won, so no real change there…

End of 3 in LA
1st big jam of the night for Gaudin and he blows away Abreu to escape! Hes doing everything right so far. He looks set to go 5 innings easy. Hes not accostumed to going deep into a game so the 6th/7th might be pushing it, but we’ve got Hughes and Aceves so theres no need to push him too deep in the game.
…Other games of importance: Cubs just beat the Brew-crew to keep their disappointing season alive a little longer. Brewers, meanwhile, are eliminated tonight if the Rockies win…and they’re leading the Padres 8-6 at the stretch.

Top 5 in LA
Gaudin pitching good when we need him too! Reminds me of Shawn Chacon back in 2005, another case of a crappy NL pitcher becomming great as soon as he puts on the pinstripes. Chacon was 1-7, 4.09 with the Rockies in 05 before joining the Yankees and going 7-3, 2.85 the rest of the way.
“OOooooooooooo No! They say hes got to go go-go-Godzilla!” Matsui launches another bomb! Yankees 5, Angels 0!
…Unfortunatly, the Rangers/A’s game is a full inning and a half ahead of this one, meaning technically the Yankees will officially clinch their playoff birth before this game ends, unless Texas can recover from being down 3-1, which can totally happen.

Bottom 5 in LA
Gaudin started giving me heart problems. 2 outs, 2 strikes and he gives up a homer to, of all people, Chone Figgins. Then he falls apart. Abreu worked a tough walk, but all said and done, and Gaudin couldnt get out of the 5th. So Gaudin’s playoff tryout inspires mixed feelings, but its the end result that matters, so its up to Aceves to bail him out.

End of 5 in LA
…and he does! So for a playoff audition Gaudin made us sweat. Interesting. The bullpen is rested though, so in case Aceves gets jammed, Hughes is around. We got a healthy 3 run lead yet, so all is not hopeless. As I stated earlier though, Yankees need to have a must win mentality tonight. Get through 8 with the lead any way you can, then Enter Sandman.

End of 7 in Oakland
A’s just put up a 5 spot and now lead 8-1. Texas is pretty much done now, meaning the Yankees are gonna finally clinch a playoff birth, the 1st in a very long time for Yankees fans.
-The Yankees meanwhile are continuing to give me heart complications, as they now only lead 5-3 with the bases loaded with Angels and the ever patient Bobby Abreu up again. C’mon Aceves, dont fail me now!

Bottom 6 in LA
The ever patient Abreu walked…again. 1 run lead, 2 outs, bases loaded, Vlad-the-Impaler up. C’MON ACEVES!

End of 6 in LA
My heart can’t take this ****. Aceves pulls through again. Won’t be his most deserving win if he gets it, but a wins a win.
…Speaking of heart attacks. The Padres/Rockies game finally ended in similar heart complicating drama. Neither starter escaped the 3rd. Rockies had an 11-6 lead in the 9th. Padres rallied, but it wasn’t enough. 11-10 Rockies win the slugfest. And with that Rockies win, RIP 2009 Brewers (and then there were 16).
…Meanwhile, the Yankees are 3 Texas outs from officially qualifying for October…

Bottom 7 in LA
WHAT THE HELL IS MARTE DOING IN THIS GAME?!?!?!

End of 7 in LA
It was Hughes’ turn to bail out the Yankees. 6 more outs and we can say we punched our postseason tickets outselves. 2 outs in Oakland until its official though.
…Meanwhile…Arizona leads the Giants in the 9th by 5. Giants are starting to fade from the NLwild card. The ugly Rockies win just got all the more sweeter.

Game over in Oakland
Its official, the Yankees are back in the post season…not that theres time to enjoy it right now…our offense seems to have regressed into last nights impotent bunch…

Game over in Arizona
The Giants uphill climb to catch the Rockies just got a little steeper with that 10-8 loss. For the Rockies, tonight was a hard fought, frustrating battle, but ultimatley worth it, as they gained that much more distance over SF. I just hope that can transition for the Yankees as well in getting rid of Boston.

Bottom 8 in LA
For the love of Christ! 2 strait errors? The Angels wont win this game, the Yanks’ll lose it…
Is there something in the f*cking gatorade? These havent been the Yankees from the 6th inning on…

End of 8 in LA
Thanks a lot Cano. Biggest error of your life. 5-all going into the 9th. Yankee bats are on east coast time it seems as they all went to sleep. Hughes has done great, but another inning might be too much to ask. Bruney and Coke are still in there. Neither inspire as much confidence. Maybe we can score a run somehow and Mo can pitch.

Top 9 in LA
THATS RIGHT! THATS RIGHT! Gardner can’t be caught stealing! Pitchout and you still can’t catch him! C’MON JETER!
Yankees have been scoring tonight with the deep drives, Angels with the small ball. Yanks can score the most important run with some small ball right here…Old man Oliver is in to try and stop Damon…
…who displays some massive BALLS and bunts with 2 strikes to move the runners over.
Tex with the free pass.
One out.
Holy sh!t.
ARod up.
And he gets the fly ball! Gardner can’t be stopped. Yankees lead 6-5!

Middle of 9 in LA
Easily the best Yankee game I’ve followed all year, and as luck would have it I’ve been making a journal of it all night to revisit.
Enter Sandman!

Bottom 9 in LA
That was strike 3! WTF? God damn umps…1 on, 0 out.
Strike em out-throw em out-double play! You ain’t no Brett Gardner, Willits!
Ball game over! Yankees win! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee YANKEES WIN!

I said it before and I’ll say it again: playoff mentality was needed tonight and the Yankees showed it and then some. Tonights game will probably overshadow most of the playoffs in terms of intensity and pressure. I’ll leave Gaudin’s debriefing for a later time. Right now, its all about the entire team.

That game was a dry run for the playoffs, and the Yankees came, saw, gave us all heart attacks, and eventually conquered.
Bring on October.
