Playoff Histories-2010 edition

The Rangers were praying a lot on Sunday. They were praying to God that the Rays would win the AL east. They were probably willing to sell their souls in order to avoid having to deal with the Yankees this year. Good reason.

The Rangers are in the playoffs for only the 4th time in franchise history. The 3 other times?
Each. And. Every. Time. The Texas Rangers made the playoffs previously (1996, 1998, 1999) they faced off against the New York Yankees in round 1.
Each. And. Every. Time. The Texas Rangers played the Yankees in the ALDS, the Yankees won. 3-1, 3-0, 3-0.
Thats right, the Rangers all time playoff record is 1-9 with 0 wins at home and 0 ALCS runs.

This year will be different because they wont have to play the Yankees, but they still have to deal with the AL east winner.

Anyway, once again I feel the need to bring up all 8 playoff teams recent playoff history before I figure who has the best shot at the LCS…

“recent playoff history”=the last 10 years only
So, the Reds and Rangers have no recent playoff histories.

New York Yankees: 52-41…4 AL Pennents…2 World Championships
Philadelphia Phillies: 20-12…2 NL Pennents…1 World Championship
San Francisco Giants: 12-13…1 NL Pennent
Atlanta Braves: 9-16
Tampa Bay Rays: 8-8…1 AL Pennent
Minnesota Twins: 7-17
Cincinnati Reds: 0-0
Texas Rangers: 0-0

Thats overall playoff records, heres what all 8 of these guys have done against each other only:

New York Yankees: 13-4
Philadelphia Phillies: 6-5
San Francisco Giants: 3-2
Atlanta Braves: 2-3
Minnesota Twins: 2-9
Tampa Bay Rays: 1-4
Cincinnati Reds: 0-0
Texas Rangers: 0-0

LETS MAKE PREDICTIONS!!!

Texas Rangers vs Tampa Bay Rays
(No prior matchups)
So the Rangers get someone new to face for the 1st time ever, and they need to make the most of it…the Rays meanwhile need to get themselves back on track after the late season tumble. The Rangers were the only AL playoff team to not suck down the stretch, plus theyve got Hamilton back, plus theyve got Cliff Lee, so its win-win-win.
I don’t expect a sweep, mainly because the Rays have proven they can dig deep, but the Rays also have no homefield advantage unless they give free tickets away. Either way, it’ll be party time in Texas, cuz I think theyre finally gonna do it.
Rangers in 4

New York Yankees vs Minnesota Twins
Previous meetings: 2003 (NYY-3, MIN-1), 2004 (NYY-3, MIN-1), 2009 (NYY-3, MIN-0)
While the Rangers were praying for the Rays to win the east, the Twins were praying for the Yankees to win. If theres one team the Yankees have owned harder than the Rangers, its the Minnesota Twins.
And if anyone misses the Metrodome more than the Twins, its the October Yankees who were a perfect 5-0 there. But I dont expect anything different this year.
Yankees in 3 if AJ Burnett doesnt pitch
Yankees in 4 if AJ Burnett pitches

Philadelphia Phillies vs Cincinnati Reds
(No prior matchups)
The Reds (aka-the “other” NL playoff team) will be the unlucky team facing the Phillies as they try to defend their back-to-back NL titles. The Reds will try to stop them with future NL MVP Joey Votto but it might not be enough.
Let it be known that the Phillies arent observant. Taking a page from the 2009 World Champion New York Yankees playbook, theyre going to roll out a postseason starting trio of their own. Halladay wont disappoint, Oswalts just happy to be on a postseason favorite, and Cole Hamels is hot, but his last start meltdown might have a few concerned, especially after his playoff meltdown last year.
As much as I want to see the Reds in the world series…
Phillies in 4
-wait a minute…this is my f*cking blog…and if the better team on paper always won, then the Yankees wouldve won more than 2 world championships last decade. So screw Roy Halladay, screw Chase Utley and screw the Philles. The “best team” thing doesnt always equal a win in the playoffs…so…
Reds in 5
(For the NL, I’m a Reds fan dammit. So f*ck you)

Atlanta Braves vs San Francisco Giants
Previous meetings: 2002 (SF-3, ATL-2)
In their world series run, the Giants met the Braves in the NLDS in 2002. Back then Barry Bonds and Chipper Jones led their respective teams. A lot has changed since then, except one guy: Bobby Cox.
The Giants have the freak Lincecum while the Braves have some serious resolve to make it this far. But the Braves are struggling, especially against the Phillies B-squad, while the Giants are riding high after surviving the scare the Padres gave them. The question here isnt who will win, but how many games exactly will it take?
Seeing how the Giants have a knack for taking until the last damn second to do things, Im gonna go with…
Giants in 5

And those are my fearless 2010 predictions. I would love to see a Yankees-Reds series, but a Yankees-Giants series would be interesting given the old NY Giants appeal…..a 2009 rematch would be neat as well, as would a 1996/99 rematch with the Braves…a lot of good options in the NL this year…

What? Someone else win the AL this year? Thats silly. Youre silly.

Week 8 in review: Ok, NOW the standings start counting

Now then, since its officially June, lemme gander at the standings in a serious manner for the 1st time this season…Rays in 1st, but not by much over the Yankees. Red Sox in 4th? Awesome.

Its officially, Im pleasently suprised at the Blue Jays. Canada might have no one left to win the championship in their own sport, but their lone baseball team seems to be holding their own in the toughest division in sports.

…and oh yeah, Halladay pitched a perfect game…though, I keep watching replays of the final out, and see Ryan Howard get a little too giddy before actually catching the ball. He may or may not have taken his foot off the bag a touch too early, though I doubt the umpire wouldve been paying attention since, ya know, who wants to be the as*hole in THAT situation?

Biggest Yankee Game:
None.
We played the Twins and Indians. Series victories were no brainers. The fact that we lost that one game against the Indians is a bit of a shock, but yeah, no doubt about the winning last week. I mean come ON! Its the Twins and Indians, Im suprised anyone expected any other ending.

Favorite Picture:

Morales.jpgD’oh!
…and thus, like Morales’ season, the California Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Anahein season is over…Getting hurt when celebrating a walk off grand slam? Until now I only thought that would happen to a team like the Mets…

Fantasy:
So its sunday afternoon, me and a friend are ironing out a deal that would throw some big names to new teams. The F*cking Lozers would give up Longoria and Ethier and would get in return: Chase Utley, Neftali Feliz and Morales (just as he was breaking his ankle).
Luckily we scraped that trade once Morales’ injury came to light and we eventually pounded out another deal…

This Week:
We beat up the Orioles, then we finally get a piece of these upstart Blue Jays…

Fantasy Draft #1

Fantasy baseball is like a drug. You cant make just one team.

Ive got multiple teams in the works this year. 1 in a money league, 1 for kicks, 1 to test a theory I have, and 1 that I created with some friends to test another theory.

Tonight I’m drafting for the group owned team. 3 (sometimes 4) of us have come to the consensus that multiple viewpoints are better than 1. All decisions to add/drop are essencially put up to a vote and everything is discussed as opposed to one person making all the decisions himself….we’re also doing this on mlb.coms fantasy game because we feel it’ll be less complicated right now without arguing over pitchers.

The beauty of this theory (in theory) is that everyone is making a case for their favorite player for each position. Example: Its very likely Utley will be available, so who do we pick up for 2B? I say Cano. Someone else says Pedroia. Another says Kinsler. Everyone argues their case, fists are thrown, sexual orientations are questioned, mothers are insulted, someone brings up Dan Uggla like an idiot, and eventually we decide on Pedroia-but only if Teixeira isnt available…..then its onto 3B: ARod or Longo? Rinse and repeat. The process is tedious and complicated, and since its only myself and one other who isnt working tonight (and since I have way more exp in drafting) it falls upon me to draft me…which kinda sucks because if your team falls short in the end, you can blame the draft…and with me drafting I become the fall guy….though if we win it all (the 10Gs that is) then Im the hero (and get the bigger cut, but they dont know that yet)

The whole process pits Yankee vs Red Sox vs Giants/Rangers vs Mets…and if my teams position player doesnt stack up against yours, then Im gonna look to another team to keep your guy off my team and vice versa…the only people we could actually 100% agree on were Mauer at C, Utley at 2B and Ryan Braun in the OF. Go figure…

Anyway, Im drafting in about half an hour. Try as I might, Im gonna try to provide commentery as the draft progresses. I have a vague list of players and rankings to go on as well as my gut for the later rounds…

…By the way, the team name is “Showdown” which is reference to how every position ranking was a battle between the 4 of us.

-Logged in. Im drafting 6th…Mark Teixeira or Chase Utley?

-Ive noticed immediatly that MLB.com is lying to itself again, saying David Ortiz is a 1B. Hahaha!

-Most people in my league are on autodraft…and the few that are here arent very talkative. Bummer, though this should be quick….

-#2 pick was Tex…wow…..my #1 pick: ARod

-It did NOT just glitch on me… awe sh!t-refresh! REFRESH!

-This is bullsh!t….obviously I missed out on my #2, trying to make it back in time for round 3…

-Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! I got back in too late. My queue got me the Cardinals and Yankees pitching staff in round f*cking 2 and 3

-Picked up Dunn and McCann. Autopicks are swallowing up all the decent players in mindless fashion. Dunn gives me freedom between 1st and the OF.

-Picked me up BJ Upton. Thank you retards on autodraft, you made that pick possible.

-Got another computer on standby in case of another glitch…

-Took a chance. Drafted Jay Bruce over Beltran.

-Decided to take advantage of the David Ortiz is a 1B loophole and got him at 1st, putting Dunn in the OF. My OF is set with Upton-Bruce and Dunn….I need a middle infield though. Big Floppy better get on them steroids this year…

-Got Nyjer Morgan instead. Figured with no good MI for a while, Ill take advantage of everyone on autodraft…

-Polanco is my 2B. Hopefully he can reach back to his all star days this year…

-I may have wasted too long for a good SS (no thanks to my little glitch), picked up Kubel while I wait for a shortstop…

-Freakin autopilopts are out to get me. Aybar, Cabrera and even Theriot got 1-2-3 right in front of me…I had to settle for Clint Barmes….

-Felipe Lopez anyone?

-Just like the World Cahmpion 09 Yankees, I got me a Molina as backup catcher…Bengie

-Bottom of the barrel kiddies, Emilio Bonifacio….one more pick left…

-Right before I can get my hands on Nick Johnson, another autopilot steals him….Brett Gardner is my final pick instead…Im pretty confident he’ll win the last OF job anyway…

Not gonna lie. Ive had better drafts, that glitch happened in round 2 and I spent a good while playing catchup, though Upton was a nice settle….was a good warmup nevertheless. I got 2 drafts tomorrow night, and 1 is in a money league…

My projected opening day lineup:
C: McCann
1B: Ortiz
2B: Lopez
3B: Rodriguez
SS: Barmes
OF: Dunn
OF: Kubel
OF: Upton
U: Polanco
P: St Louis Cardinals

Lets kill this now before it gets too big…

Chase Utley.

Yes, hes an amazing 2nd baseman. 2nd to none at that position (which isnt saying much)
Last year in my fantesy draft I went 5th: after A Rod, Phat Albert, Reyes and another Philly, there was only 1 logical choice for me.
Hes been one of the best hitters in this years World Series and has been a major threat every time he steps up to the plate.
But he is NO Derek Jeter, and thus, he is NO Mr November.

I’ll never meet you, and have never heard about you before and probably will never care, nor have a problem with anything you ever say again, butf*ck you Eamonn Brennan! You brought up the beast that does not speak its name. I mentioned it 1 post earlier and I still didnt define if specificlly.
You’re not alone in this Eamonn, but I found you 1st, so you suffer for it. (Take it as a compliment that someone actually read your blog. And since I linked to it, you should be thanking me.)
(You’re welcome, by the way.)

I bring this up now because I dont wanna have to listen to FOX talk about it, and you KNOW they will. Lets prove WHY Utley cannot be Mr November before too many people start seriously talking about it.
Utley tied a record that is held by Reggie Jackson aka Mr October, fine. Not all 5 came in November though, so if thats the only logic going into that decision, WRONG. shut up and dont be sore losers when the Yankees win.
Besides, aside from casually forgetting that not all of Utleys homer runs have come in the same month, these Phillies supporters are also casually forgetting another crucial fact: the title of “Mr November” has already been given to someone else, a much better player, Derek Jeter.

Now, should the Phillies lose the series, this might die forever and we’ll never have to hear about it again. Should Jeter crush a game winning homer tomorrow or game 7, he can further solidify his status and Utley never stands a chance. Maybe if Utley goes 0-10 in the next game(s) he wont be deserving of any praise and this will all just go away.
These are all very real possibilities (especially the one where the Phillies lose) so theres a chance that Chase Utley will never be associated with the month of November. But thats not why I write this. Its because if these whispers are heard by anyone working for FOX sports, then those idiots Buck and McCarver will turn the whispers into shouts…Shouting shouts that are shouted into a megaphone that make those shouts more annoying.

The whole “Jeter being Mr November” thing is a bit to blame on Buck really. He mentioned something like “Theres already a Mr October. How about a Mr November?” in passing right before Jeter hit a walk off in 2001. Buck probably kicks himself over that. So you know he’ll be on the front lines, campaigning for Utley to usurp the November throne.

And in the end, when you look at it, who would you rather be known as Mr November?
Chase Utley?
Or Derek Jeter, a man who Ozzie Guillen refers to as “God”
If Utley hits a grand slam off Rivera in the 9th inning down by 3 runs, I might reconsiter. But Jeter will probably follow with a 2 run shot in the bottom of the 9th. Because hes Jeter. Because hes the real Mr November.

I’m gonna go with God on his one

…In other news, A Rods lack of sucking this postseason is obvious, and it is obvious that Ryan Howard has decided to step up and suck in his place.
So is Howard gonna become “Mr Suck-in-November”?

2009 World Series vs Phillies…Game 5

I have given a name to my pain, and it is Batman Chase Utley

No joke, all those home runs are starting to tick me off, only because Buck/McCarver are loving it and are comparing him to Reggie Jackson…and if you compare someone to Mr October in the month of November, you know what Joe Buck wants you to think (Except Jeter already has that honor)

Ok…not so hot tonight from the Yankees. Burnett gave us the ugly side of his Jekyll/Hyde routine and this thing gose back to the Bronx…

Good.

If you gave me the choice at the beginning of this series, Id choose to win it at home. What better way to open up the new stadium than by winning #27 at home instead of in Philly.

I also did say the Yankees would win in 6…Rollins was proven dead wrong, so that only leaves me to be right.

Pettitte goes tomorrow night, and hes been nothing but clutch for us this postseason. Matched up against Pedro? What better way to win the world series than by beating up Martinez to clinch it. If we have a lead after 7, Mo comes in and it’ll be over. If Pettitte can only go 6, Joba and Marte will be ready (who wouldve thought Marte wouldve proven reliable? Then again, he was lights out when he was in the NL)

…One more thing. Anyone else find it off that FOX has their fall schedule premiering on the same night as game 7 would be?

Game 6 tomorrow night…

2009 World Series vs Phillies…Game 2

You’d swear it was already over the way people flip-flop for the Phillies.

Anyway, we tie this thing up tonight. And if we don’t, bollocks, my “Yankees in 6” prediction still exists, though I’d rather not have to win 3 in a row in Philly…

My Dad mentioned 1996. Yankees trailed 2-0 to the Braves before winning it in 6. As far as I know, 1996 Braves > 2009 Phillies….and 2009 Yankees > 1996 Yankees. So we should be fine…right?
Though its worth mentioning that the 96 Yankees won those games thanks in part to Jim Leyritz (3 run game tying jack), Paul O’Neill (CLUTCH catch to end 1-0 Yankee win) and John Wetteland (MVP w/ 4 saves)….
Tonight we have a our backup catcher and a new rightfielder both starting
Jose Molina probably wont be going deep and Jerry Hairston Jr is NO Paul O’Neill…though Rivera is just as clutch as 96 Wetteland…
So all in all, it would be best if we avoided going down 2-0 before heading out to Philly…

Burnett better pitch a f*cking GEM in order to justify us benching our starting catcher down 1-0 in the World Series. Swisher is slumping, so Hairston cant be any worse, though with both Swisher and Posada benched, it weakens our lineup power-wise.
Hughes seems to have lost himself lately, but with a bullpen a great as ours, he doesnt have to shoulder the load alone, I just hope Girardi realizes this. Joba and Coke exist for a reason.

Speaking of Girardi, this is the first time the Yankees have trailed in a series, so Joes decisions will be second-guessed like crazy-even if we win-so he needs to keep his head level and make good decisions.
Benching Swish was a good thing all things consitered…starting Molina wasnt…
…though I must ask, why not Gardner instead of Hairston? I’m sick of seeing him come off the bench as a pinch-runner. Everyone knows hes gonna try to steal, and the Angels showed that that isnt always a good idea (especially when they see it comming a mile away)
……as for Molina, we all know Posada will come in as soon as Burnett stops pitching, but this time there is no backup. We dropped Cervelli for this series to make room for Bruney. Smart?
$5 says Girardis only benching Posada because we all know Martinez would try to throw a fastball at Jorges head.

ALSO
WTF? Why is it that whenever he faces the Yankees, Pedro Martinez has to open his God damn mouth and say something stupid? He brings up 2003 like he was a victim, or how the whole Don Zimmer thing wasnt his fault. Hes trying to set this up like the Yankees are the bad guys or something…
…and how hes the most influencial person to ever set foot in the Bronx? Seriously? This (old) man is insane, and he cant beat the Yankees. We are the only team he could never dominate. We make him look human.
Besides, most of his wins this year were made possible because of some major run support, so as long as Burnett can hold down the Philly offense, we got a win. Just do what CC did last night, except the Chase Utley part.

…Wow…and this was just pregame…

Top 3 in New York
The Ground-rule 2B earlier-FOX tried to show a replay but apparently never had a good shot…which probably means it was foul and FOX doesnt want us to know it….I really dont know since I wasnt watching at that moment…I did catch A Rods not catching a grounder and letting the Phillies take a lead though…

Anyway, go to yahoo sports right now: theyve got the main article talking about Pedro and “redemption” What redemption? Yes, we’re Pedros “daddy” and yes, he cant seem to beat us in big games, but hes hardly sucked against us. Hes 11-11 lifetime against NYY, hardly worth “redemption”
Trying to play this game up?

Bottom 3 in New York
9:10pm…if Molina takes Martinez deep, I’ll sh!t my pants…
9:11pm…damn…walk instead…

Bottom 4 in New York
TEX! What slump? Tie game!

Bottom 6 in New York
GODZILLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! 2-1 NY!!!

Bottom 7 in New York
Pedro at 100 pitches…Philly a little scared to bring in bullpen?
Girardi seems like hes gonna go for the 6 out special from Mo again
…Wow…Gardner goes from 1st to 3rd in a heartbeat…on a 1 hop single into right
……Hmmm, we’ve been here before. Tired Pedro, Posada at the plate, the quandry of whether or not to bring in a reliever…
………annnnd looks like history wont repeat itself. Pedro gets the hook this time…smiles like an idiot on his way out too…TVs on mute, so I cant hear Joe Buck talk about “how great he did”…
…………I’ll say it now: when AJ pitches game 5, Posada better be catching. Cuz thanks to him, Yankees lead 3-1 now…
……………Wooooooooooooooooow. Biggest blown call of the postseason. The umpire even signaled…and yet the Phillies still luck out. Seriously, instant replay cant exist for sh!t like that? I guess it doesnt matter, since Mos pitching now.
Still…FIX!

Top 8 in New York
Enter Sandman…

Bottom 8 in New York
Seriously? Beaning Tex? Any other situation, I’d say it was intentional, but I doubt it when its a close game in the World Series…unless theyre trying to knock Tex out of the entire series…those b*stards…
…Seriously, A Rod? 6 strikeouts in 2 games? Little hard to ignore…
……Quick question: Why is out bullpen active if our closer is already in the game?
………How come we dont get the inside strike calls?

Top 9 in New York
Why does FOX use that pitch tracker when it clearly isnt accurate?
Mo is making the Philly hitters look stupid!

Yankees win!
1-1! Lets go to Philly!

Yankees in 6

There, I said it.
We’ll win game 1, naturally. Philly will fight back and win game 2. We’ll roll into Philly and take game 3 then CCs game 4 start will be another masterpiece. 3-1 Yanks. Philly will salvage game 5, forcing the trip back to New York. Pettitte will pitch another clutch game and we’ll take this thing at home.
I was dead on the mark for us needing 3 and 6 to win the ALDS and CS. No reason to think I’ll be wrong here.

Philly has a good looking infield with Rollins, Howard and Utley…but we’ve got Jeter, Tex and A Rod…AND Cano. Phillies have a more sound looking outfield though, Ill give them that.

Both Starting rotations look clutch. Lee-Hamels can go toe to toe with Sabathia-Pettitte, though anyone against CC is a lost cause for Philly.

What puts the overall advantage in New York is the bullpen. Philly can match us everywhere but in the pen. In fact, Philly has had one of the worst bullpens in the postseason, while tha Yankees have had the best. If the Yankees can outlast Hamels and Lee and work into that pen, the series will be ours!

Burnett aint half bad either, much better than any other Phillies pitcher.
…and dont start about the return of Pedro Martinez. Dont forget who your daddies are, Pedro…I hope you end up having to pitch in New York just so the crowd can chant “Who’s your daddy?”

…….Brad Lidge or Mariano Rivera? HA! Dont make me laugh. Anyone with half a brain cell would pick Mo.

When 2 powerhouses like the Yanks and Phills collide, it all comes down to who has the better bullpen, and the Yankees clearly win on that front, and thus, should be favored to win #27 this year.

Game 1 in a couple days…

Freeway Series? HA! Dont make me laugh!

1st of all, lemme just say that I’m soooooooo happy both wild card teams didnt make it through round 1…I just hate it when a wild card team wins. (97, 02, 03 and 04 were all sh!tty years for baseball)…anyway, onwards with my post…

One, if not, both LA teams will fail this round. Mainly cuz the Yankees don’t plan on losing. Here are 8 reasons why one, if not both LA teams will fail to win 4 of their next 7 games…(or, if youre an optimist: why the Yankees and/or Phillies will be going to the world series)…

1. The bums went home.
Matt Holliday will not be patrolling the outfield in anymore 9th innings and PapelBUM won’t be around to offer the Angels anymore rallies courtesy of a meltdown.
The Sillies may not have an intimidating trio in the OF, but they can field their positions, so the Dodgers can forget about any choke-aided rallies. Slick defense is what wins the close games. Though in comensation, Brad Lidge and his 11 blow saves are around, but Manuel seems to have found a compromise, bringing Lidge in only for those rare four three two 1 out saves.
Meanwhile, Papelbum is home and now the Angels will have to face the wrath of Rivera in the 9th inning. ’nuff said.

2. Yankees aren’t afraid of Anaheim anymore.
If we learned anything from winning that intense series in LA late in the regular season, its that YES WE CAN! And unlike Obama, we delivered, taking 2 of 3 in that series and becomming the 1st team to clinch a playoff birth. Now we can basically do the same thing again and become the 1st team to clinch a world series birth.
(Cue the fallout for the meaningless political shot…)

3. C.C. Sabathia will pitch 3 games in the series.
Angels fans might cry foul at this one. Our ace will pitch a mind boggling 3 games in the series. And he should. Hes gotten an incredible amount of rest over the month, and hes the only pitcher in baseball you’d feel fine about pitching again and again on short rest because hes done it before with success (see: Getting the Brewers into the playoffs)
Hell, if this works, let him pitch games 1, 2 and 3 of the world series, let him have game 4 off, then pitch him in game 5 if Burnett screws up.

4. The AL MVP is facing the Angels.
“But I thought Joe Mauer went home?”
Yeah he did, but A Rod is still playing.

ARod.jpgThe man missed an entire month and the Yankees sucked. The moment he came back, we took off and never looked back, while he still found a way to post 30HRs and 100RBIs. Thats not just incredible, thats MVPcredible. The way he played this season, recovering from hip surgery, shrugging off the ‘roids bitching, and going on a tear in October…to me that says MVP.
If he somehow wins this, it would be the 1st one I feel he’d deserve since now hes got the October credentials to back it up for once.
…Plus, ya know, A Rod RAPES the Angels pitching everytime he faces them.

5. The Phillies rotation.
…for a minute, I forgot to include the NLCS…
Cliff Lee against any non-AL team + Cole Hamels against the Dodgers in October = easy wins.
…and for extra credit…Pedro Martinez + him not pitching against or anywhere near the Yankees = more easy wins.
The Dodgers may have a better overall look, but the Phillies have a 1-2-(maybe 3) punch that will give those (trolly) Dodgers a run for their money

6. Yankees have a bench and bullpen deeper than most hookers’ va-jay-jays
(Thats right, PG for the kids…)
Lets start with Molina, who has an arm that will keep those pesky Angel runners in check…expand to Speedy Gonzalez Brett Gardner who can steal bases at will…and end with a bullpen so deep, Girardi can pitch them <1 inning of work, and still have enough talent left to win an 11 inning game against the Twins…though if he does that again, I’ll personally slap him.

7. The Phillies infield.
Ryan Howard…Chase Utley…Jimmy Rollins? In one infield? Wow.
…and Pedro Feliz, yeah…no infield is perfect…but it’s still way better than any infield out of LA…

8. Angels and Dodgers benefited from slumping opposing bats in LDS.
The Cardinals couldn’t drive in a RISP to save their lives. The Red Sox fell asleep and Ortiz apparently forgot to take his roids right beforehand. The Yankees on the other hand had to fend off a streaking Twins team while the Rockies managed to win a game and almost forced a game 5. Yankees and Phillies earned their wins.
The Dodgers survived from some solid St Louis pitching, but had the luxery of a popless Cardinal lineup.
The Angels probably overhyped themselves for undoing their woeful past against Boston.

…I’m not saying both LA teams will lose in their LCSs…but AT LEAST one of them will (My money is on both…but my money was also on the Dodgers to lose in round 1, so go figure)
Crap (OPTIMISM, dammit!)
I’m not saying the Yankees and Phillies will both win their LCSs…but AT LEAST one of them will (My money is on both…but my money was also on the Cardinals winning the NL, so go figure)
